Lorinda achieved her Higher Education Diploma and Honours in Educational Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch. She was a teacher before completing her master’s degree in Educational Psychology (University of Stellenbosch). She has been an Educational Psychologist in private practice for 14 years.
Lorinda works with children, adolescents and young adults who are facing educational, emotional or social challenges. She does psycho-educational assessments, including school readiness assessments and diagnostic assessments for learners with special needs. She is experienced in identifying specific learning disorders or barriers to learning and can assist with interventions to address these, including applications for assessment accommodations (e.g. extra time or the use of a scribe during examinations).
She also offers play therapy for young children and psychotherapy for older children, adolescents and young adults to help them develop coping strategies and to optimise personal growth and development.
Lorinda believes in a collaborative working style, focussing on the child within the family and school context. She enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary team alongside other specialists (e.g. Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and doctors).
